Bone differs from any other soft tissue since it heals through a process of generation of the new bone rather than by forming fibrotic tissue. Bone repair requires four critical elements: (i) osteogenic cells; (ii) osteoinductive factors provided mainly by growth factors and bone morphogenic proteins; (iii) an osteoconductive matrix and (iv) an adequate blood and nutrients supply. Since 1920 calcium phosphate ceramics have been used as bone substitutes due to its similarity to the mineral part of the natural bone so that they can be recognized, dissolved and remodeled as new bone tissue. This synthetic bone graft substitutes are highly osteoconductive and bioactive, forming a strong bond to the host bone providing the adequate environment for the remodeling process.

NeoBone®

Presentation

Neobone® is a biphasic synthetic ceramic made of hydroxyapatite (75%) and tricalcium phosphate (25%) with interconnected macroporosity which allows the ingrowth of new bone.

Neobone® is available in many shapes such as blocks, wedges, cylinders, irregular granules and sphere-like granules.


Application

Neobone® is design for filling bone defects such as:
  • - Treatement of fractures;
  • - Pseudarthosis;
  • - Arthodesis;

TriOSS

TriOSS is a synthetic ceramic of 100 % of Tricalcium Phosphate with interconnected macroporosity which allows the ingrowth of new bone.

NeoCement®

Presentation

Neocement® is an hydroxyapatite cement composed of a solid phase (Tetracalcium Phosphate and Tricalcium Phosphate), a liquid phase (apyrogenic water solution of citric acid and glucose) and a powder (chitosan). The three components are mixed to form a paste that sets in a few minutes. It can be molded in the desired shape and applied directly in the bone defect.

Neocement® is presented in a package with three flasks, one for each component (solid phase, liquid phase and chtitosan).


Application

Neocement® is indicated for use in the treatment of small bone defects such as:
  • - Fracture reduction with plate fixation;
  • - Bone reconstruction;
  • - Cranioplasty;
